Though this is my first published book, my writing journey began long ago fueled by my passion for reading. I've always been enamored with books, especially those by Beverly Cleary. In 4th grade, I entered a Barnes and Noble young author’s contest with my mystery debut novel featuring a girl and her Nimbus 2000 pencil, capable of creating unlimited stories. To my amazement, I emerged victorious! For one glorious hour, I was a local celebrity, gracing the purple-carpeted stage in the children’s section of Barnes and Noble. My prize? A $50 gift card to... you guessed it... Barnes and Noble! Within ten minutes, I'd purchased the last few books to complete my Beverly Cleary novel collection. With Ramona and Beezus tucked in my backpack, I was chauffeured back home in my family’s '92 Windstar green minivan, feeling like a bona fide author celebrity. I consider this a pivotal moment in my aspiring author career. Since that memorable day, I’ve explored poetry by composing catchy rap songs to help my students memorize science facts, as well as crafting love poems for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. My mom even went as far as framing one of my childhood poems, affirming my talent. If Mom says so, it must be true, right? Teacher.

She grew up seeking adventure in places like Olympic National park, where Piper explores. Daughter of a seaplane pilot, and granddaughter of a mountaineer - trail blazing and campsite hunting in remote places were standard summer fun. Like Piper, strapping on a pair of muddy hiking boots and hitting the trail was where she felt most at home. Mom.
As a mom, she hopes to share her love of the outdoors with her son and daughter. She hopes Piper's story helps them, and all children see the power of grit and perseverance. You CAN do hard things. Caffeinator.
